Done that 3 times with no success. Also done the other 3
suggested fixes on the troubleshooting page with no
success.

Hi, Lou.

If you want a helpful response, you should put a little more thought into
composing your post. I also was wondering whether you were asking a
question or simply reporting something - and whether the body of your
message had anything to do with the Subject line.

In your next post, please give us a little to go on. Which version of
Windows XP? Which critical update? Where are you seeing the update?
Exactly what steps do you take and exactly what response do you get? What
troubleshooting page? Printers? Updates? What 3 suggested fixes do you
see?

Remember, you're sitting there looking at your computer, but all we see is
what's in your message. And most of us are not experts. In a newsgroup,
very few of us are Microsoft employees. We're just users like you, perhaps
a few steps ahead on the learning curve, and we are helping because we want
to help, not because anybody is paying us to do it. Give us the information
and we'll do our best.

Of course, the web-based interface you are using disguises the fact that you
are in a newsgroup, but you are. There was a "banner over the door" on the
way into the Community, and there are easily-accessible Help files that
explain things. Most experienced users prefer to use Outlook Express,
rather than the browser, for accessing newsgroups.
