I'm currently running windows xp home edition, with the
service pack 1 installed. The problem seems to start from
the get go. I'm noticing that my floppy drive is accessed
3 times during boot up. Then as I'm manipulating
differant windows, on the web or off, periodically the
information, in the windows that are open, will blink
off, then back on. During this time the icons on my
deskop do the same, & my floppy drive is accessed.
Another thing that I'm noticing, is when there are
windows covering my desktop, that when I close, or move
the windows, my desktop icons are now generic icons,
which are then slowly replaced with the actual icons.
This whole process lasts about a second or two, during at
which time explores.exe in my task manager goes from
about 10% or so to above 90% usage. I have a Dell 8200,
Pentium 4, 2ghz, 512mb ram, I have a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX
420 using 1152x864 resolution, along with 32bit color
quality on a Dell P992 FD Trinitron monitor. Would
appreciate any input anyone has, thank you.
