A few days ago, I had the error: DRIVER_IROL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. After much
digging to find out what this is, I came across the KB article # 316208
which directed me to contact Mylex Corp as this problem is due to the Mylex
RAID controller. I e-mailed Mylex and their response this morning was that
this is a Microsoft problem and should contact them.
Also that they, themselves, have informed Microsoft of this bug in the XP OS
several times and that the KB article is misdirecting people. The error has
not occurred again, so do I need to be concerned? Is there a fix to this
bug? Any answers to these questions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

This is a "newusers" group. You might want to repost to "help_and_support"

I am a newuser which is why I posted here. This is my first computer which
I purchased at the end of January. How new a user to you have to be?

Hi,
Anyone of any skill level may ask a question. This group is geared =
towards those with fairly basic issues, but you can ask complex ones as =
well (though for the toughies you should look for a more specialized =
group to get the needed knowledge and attention they may require).

Hi,
Microsoft is not responsible for updating hardware drivers, that is up =
to the manufacturer. It's not a bug, a bug is when something designed to =
work doesn't. This is a case where the manufacturer has not decided to =
properly support their product under this Operating System.
However, are you sure that this is the problem? Any driver conflict can =
cause that error message. Troubleshooting it can be lengthy. Check that =
your hardware and the drivers for it meet the compatibility list:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/services/whql/hcl/winxphclx86.txt

The first thing I suggest you do is learn how to actually
ask a question. How new a user do you have to be? !!!!! To
do what? If you actually have a problem then ask the
question giving as much detail as you know. The more the
better. Good luck.

Well, Revernd, I'm so new to all this that I hit the wrong icon and so my
message did not join to my initial posting which was placed at 9:30 a.m.
Here is my initial posting:

I thank Rick Rogers for his response to my question and for pointing out the
difference between the role of Microsoft and that of the computer
manufacturer. I had not thought to differentiate between the two. I guess
since I am always heading to Microsoft for driver updates putting the two
together just made sense. I would be the first to admit I have a great deal
to learn.

I appologize if my reply offended you in any way. It
wasn't meant to do that. I was merely trying to get across
the point that your post seemed to be missing some
additional information that would assist us in helping
you. These News Groups are for users of all skill levels
and are an excellent source of valuable information on XP
and doing everything from improving performance to simply
setting text styles. Never be afraid to ask anything and
don't worry about the exact heading under which to post.
As time goes on you'll get the hang of it. Just be sure to
give as much information as you can. Things like the exact
program or application that you are having problems with
or exactly what it is you would like to achieve. Welcome
to XP and enjoy. It is really easy once you know where to
look for things. Good luck.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about a blue screen that has just occurred
once. If it happens more often it is time to seek help.
