problems with internet

[fed up me]

I am having problems connecting to some web sites from my
networked computer.When I do a test on network
connections my network card fails (IP address fails)and
yet I can share files,my printer and some web sites on my
networked computer.

I have changed privacy and security settings on internet
options to as low as they can go and this hasn't helped.

Has anyone any suggestions as to why this is happening?
