Hello...I'm running winxp on a 40gig HD that is
partitioned into 2- 20's The OS is on one and I use the
other for storage and back-up. I also have a 6gig
installed and I was wondering if I can install win98 on
it?? The 40gig is my primary master and my cd-rom is my
primary slave. The 6 gig is my secondary master. Can I
do this and what is the best way?? Thanks. Michael

Hi Michael,
It can be done, and it's not really that hard. The catch: Is the primary =
boot partition using FAT32 or NTFS? If FAT32, then you can create a =
native dual boot using the WinXP boot loader. If in NTFS you will need a =
third party boot loader, as Win98 cannot load from an NTFS partition =
(regardless of where you install it, all the OS's will still boot from =
the same partition).
To create the native dual boot, install Win98 normally by loading =
startup floppy, then see this link from MVP Doug Knox to repair the boot =
loader (ok, so actually you should read this first):
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_9x.htm
If using NTFS, these programs can accomplish this task, and you should =
review the OS installation procedures for each for proper setup =
procedures:
Boot Managers and Partitioning programs:
BootIT NG www.terabyteunlimited.com
Partition Magic www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic
Partition Commander http://www.v-com.com/product/pc_ind.html
Ranish Partition Manager http://www.ranish.com/part/
