I heard that if you transport your computer you have to
lock the harddrive.Is this true? how would you do this?My
computer is new and runs windows xp if thats any help.

This was called "park the heads". It is no longer done. Use care in
handling, as with any electronic gear. Protect from drops and sudden shocks,
you won't have any problem.

PC's with hard drives are shipped every day without problems. No 'parking'
of heads required.
