View Full Version : Switching users when on-line

I upgraded to a new computer with XP this week. I've set
up a user account for each of my family members. However
when we go on-line (IE6), switching accounts
automatically causes the computer to close the dial-up
ISP connection. This can't be right.
Is there a simple solution that will allow me to be
connected to the internet and still switch user
accounts?

Open Control Panel, double-click Network Connections. Select the
connection you want to share, click 'Change settings of this
connection'. Select the Advanced tab and check the boxes 'Allow other
network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection'
and 'Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network
attempts to access the Internet'. Voila.

It is right! The ISP is shutdown when switching users. There is a registry
patch to amend this. Either search google or MS site for patch.
