Right click My Computer, open Properties
and get this message:
The proceedure entry point
Remote Assistance Prepare System Restore
could not be located in the dynamic link library
WINSTA.dll. Appreciate help as to install Restore.

I would run the System File Checker. At Start > Run type
SFC /scannow
and press ENTER.

Reboot, tapping F8 every second.
Choose Safe Mode at the menu.
Same thing?
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore
Can you perform System Restore?
Otherwise:
Start/Run
Type "cmd" ENTER
Type "sfc /scannow" ENTER
Have the Windows XP CD ready.

Then perform a Repair Installation:

Windows Updates and Service Pack will need to be reinstalled.

Just finished Repair. At one time it said it could
not find something about a Tape Contol (no such
item in my PC) and with OK it continued with no
further hiccups. At completion same problem when
I clkd System Restore or Right clkd My Computer
and right clkd Properties.
I should mention that 4 days ago I checked delete
Restore before doing a Repair. At Repair completion
the problem message showed up.
Any suggestions?

Installed xp sp 1a (125mb). Restore now works.
Windows XP Hotfix (sp2) Q329441 shows up at
add and remove and when higlighted it does not allow
Remove. Where is detail available on this file?
Many thanks for all the help.
