View Full Version : Internet Connection Wizard: Greyed-Out Options

Hi!

Over the weekend, I upgraded my laptop from XP Home to XP
Professional. When upgrade completed, all my
files/programs/settings were intact -- with the exception
of My Network Connections (they had all disappeared).
When I tried to set them up again, the Internet Connection
Wizard had greyed out both the DIAL-UP and PPPoE options;
the ones I needed to use. My question: I need to set up
my PPPoE connection -- how can I do so? Any suggestion or
thought whatsoever would be *greatly* appreciated!

Also: My ISP tech checked that the following were set:

Under Control Panel --> Admin Tools --> Services...

1. Remote Access Auto Connection Manager: Manual
2. Remote Access Connection Manager: Manual
3. Telephony: Manual

....but setting all three to manual (point #1 was the only
one I had to change) didn't help. I'm completely out of
ideas...

Thanks to all in advance,

Brian Lee.

(PS: Currently connected to Internet at school, in case
you were wondering...)

The upgrade has triggered this problem:

You Cannot Create a Network Connection After You Restore Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329441

Re-apply SP1 to fix it.
