Hi Ammar,
Do you want to just reinstall over your existing XP or perform a clean
install?
1: If you simply want to reinstall over existing, simply go into your
computer's bios, set the boot order to boot from the cd-rom first, insert
the XP cd, and reboot. You should see a prompt to press any key to continue
booting from the cd - do so quickly. At the setup screen, choose new
install. Accept the license agreement, and the setup will find your existing
install. Select it, and then press R for repair. This is essentially the
same as installing over your existing install, and should retain all your
files/programs/settings.
2: To do a clean install, folllow the steup above, except instead of
pressing R choose to format and install over your existing XP install. Setup
will wipe the hard drive clean and partition it, then continue with a clean
install. Have your previous win9x cd handy , you may be prompted to insert
it for qualifying media if you have the upgrade version of XP. Be aware this
destroys any and all data on your hard drive.
In either case, backup any important data files you want to keep .
Hope this helps,
