Hi, I have an ad-hoc (peer-to-peer) network with 2 d-link airplus
cards, one on a desktop, the other on a laptop. Usually works fine,
but have the following connection problems:
boot both - no problem, can connect.
reboot desktop with laptop running - no problem, laptop 'sees' network
and connects. Can do this many times.
reboot laptop with desktop running - no connection. Tried
disabling/enabling card but nothing. Have to reboot the desktop to get
a connection.
Also, If the network cards can 'see' each other, but cannot ping the
desktop from the laptop, If I change the I.P. address of the laptop
the connection to required network is made. Aaaarggh! Why? Is there a
service I need to start?
I'm running XP Pro on both machines, all updates are up-to-date. My
main problem is that the monitor on the desktop is not working, so
cannot change drivers etc as once the drivers/IP/anything?!?? is
changed I won't be able to use remote desktop to access the desktop
PC.
ANY help or guidance would be appreciated
