View Full Version : Control Panel Icons

I set the Control Panel to view "icons" but I have all my other folders set
to view "details". However, whenever I reboot, the Control Panel goes back
to "details" and will NOT stay on icons. How can I fix this? Thanks...

Try setting 'remember each folders view setting' in control panel--folder
options---view tab.

You can't.
It's a 'feature".

I did that ... I need help from an experienced technician. It has something
to do with deleting
bags in the MUI in the registry

No, Wally, that is NOT true ... please don't answer questions when you don't
know the answer. This has happened before and it's easily fixed in the
Registry ... I just can't remember with entry a REAL
technician told me to delete.

It's true for me. I've done all the patches and fixes suggested here
and my desktop folders including Control Panel will change from Icon
View to List View at odd times.

Michael,
If you want help from a real technician, go pay one. Everyone here is a
volunteer, spending their own personal time to help others. Being rude to
them is not conducive to getting help from any of them.
However, with that said, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell NoRoam\Bags\4\Shell
Look in the right pane for the following values. Each should be set as
follows:
Vid = {0057D0E0-3573-11CF-AE69-08002B2E1262}
Mode = 00000001
To change a value simply double click it, or right click and select Modify.
Note, these settings are from MY system, and the Registry key indicated may
be different on your system.

Doug,
I was not being rude ... I was simply saying that one should not answer
questions if you don't know the correct answer. He didn't. If I hadn't
known there was a fix for this, I may have just accepted his statement that
it couldn't be fixed and be stuck with it.
Someone else told me to delete the "BagMRU"
and "Bags" in my Registry and that is what did the trick. This time, I made
a text file with the info so
that I won't have to ask again. Again, I'm sorry if you perceived it as
rude ... it wasn't meant to be;
just a caution about giving out misinformation to
those of us that have to be trusting and believe
what we are told ... accurate or not.
