All these apply to my dad's computer (I don't have direct access to it, but
I can ask him for more info if needed):

I've upgraded to Windows XP Pro over Windows Me.
I've also installed and run Norton Systemworks, which has found some errors
and corrected them (mostly some Active X invalid entries and some shortcut
errors).
Finally I've upgraded his system from Microsoft Office ( I think it was a
Premium edition ???) to Microsoft Office for Win xp.

Now the problems:

1. All addresses and phone numbers from Microsoft Outlook have been erased.
2. His Word documents have disappeared from the computer EXCEPT for the ones
on the desktop (!!!).

The question:

Is there a way to track the changes, find the documents (if they were
deleted by the OS) and restore them ???
(I know that savy people can restore files sometimes even after they've been
deleted from the garbage bin (that's why there are file-shredders - to get
rid of them completely - which means they're still around somewhere unless
you shred them)).
How do I track the files back and restore them ?

Any pointers are appreciated (even toward online sites with related info).
Please remove N-o-s-p-a-m and 69 from the mailing address before replying.
Thanks in advance !

Since you have system work installed see if you can find any of the files
with the unerase wizard. Typically you can only recover if the file has not
been written over. More than likely these files have been written over.
What doesn't make since is that upgrades do not overwrite docuement so I
don't know why this would happen. I have upgraded many computer without
losing any data.

If searches are not turning up the files, use Folder Options> View to show
hidden files and folders. May need to show protected system files as well.
Then try the searches again.
