program not responding

hi there

I'm new to computing and my question is why i'm i getting
so many (non responsive) program pop ups. It seem more
often thne not lately when i log on to a cite it eventually
becomes non responsive. Occasionally i get internet
explorer as a non responsive program as well.

Could anyone please help and explain what this means
