I just bought a Creative WebCam Pro and cannot find any
programs to get it working so I can communicate with, and
see my grandchildren on their webcam.
Microsoft has NetMeeting, but not for XP. We've tried
Dell, our cable company and Creative, and all we could
find is a note on the box that says the camera will work
with XP's own Instant Messaging. I've found Windows
Messenger and Net.Passport, but neither refer to webcams.
Anybody out there know what we can do. My grandchildren
are getting older!!! Thanks.

You can use Yahoo Messenger.

The Windows Messenger program integrated into Windows XP has the ability to
work with video. The only issue is that both sides of the conversation have
to be using Windows Messenger. To use Windows Messenger, you need a
Microsoft Passport account, which you can sign up for from within the
messenger application itself. If you are familiar with instant messaging
programs, WM should be pretty easy. Simply add your grandchildren as
contacts, start a conversation with them, and then on the right side of the
conversation window you should see an option for start camera. If they have
one on their end, too, then everything should work just fine.

Seems you are familiar with NetMeeting.
It does exist in WinXP (at least Home-Edition):
C:\Program Files\Netmeeting\Conf.exe (if C:\ is your Root)

Netmeeting is still there as part of XP. click "Start",
then "run" and type "conf.exe" and then "ok". Once you
have netmeeting up I suggest you save it as a desktop
icon, that way you wont have to "run" the task again.
