I have been reading hundreds of thousands of posts about windows xp and
have come to a conclusion. All the people with amd or athlon chips have
all the problems the people with pentium chips have no problems.

That's really funny. You were joking weren't you? <g>

Using an AMD Athlon on a very stable XP setup,

1) Turn off Error reporting if you are not sending those reports. (I send
them but it's entirely up to you what you want to do this.) Right click on
My Computer and select Properties. On the Advanced page, click Settings in
the Startup and Recovery section. On the next screens you can configure,
enable/disable error reporting.

2) Find out what applications are tossing up errors. Make notes of the error
messages. If one does not appear on the screen, check in Event Viewer.
Follow up on those error messages by researching the onlne technical support
resources for the programs.

tommy,

i definitely disagree.

i have been using xp with an amd chip, which i even promote to friends. i
have not experienced any problem with xp per se.

on the other hand, most problems are with branded computers. this is because
when one buys a computer from a certain company, the buyer does not have any
choice to its parts and some of these may not work well with xp.
