My copy of Windows XP, Home, furnished as an OEM version from Compaq does
not contain a copy of "ntbackup.exe". Is the program available from
anywhere, short of buying a copy of the operating system from Microsoft.

Did you do a search for ntbackup? Mine is OEM also and I found it on my
harddrive.

With XP Home it's not installed automatically, as it is in XP
Professional. But if Compaq provided you with a complete CD, you
should be able to find it in \valuesadd\msft\ntbackup, and
install it from there.

Compaq did not provide "value added features" of XP.
