How can increase the number of documents shown on this list. I currently
show 15.

MaxRecentDocs=20
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer=20

Data type Range Default value=20
REG_DWORD 0x0 - 0xFFFFFFFF shortcuts 0xF (15 shortcuts) =20

Description
Determines how many shortcuts the system can display in the Documents =

Change method
To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry =
corresponds to the Maximum number of recent documents policy (User =

It's not in home. But nor do you need it. Group policy sets registry =
keys at logon. Just set the keys by hand. I'm not even sure Home doesn't =
have group policy (it probably does) it just doesn't have a small =
program to set it up. Regardless once the GPO runs it's all in the =
registry.

Dear Mr. Candy:

This dialogue sounds like the blind leading the blind! I expected more from
a MVP, though your web site does appear to be a bit dusty with age; last
updated in the year 2000.

With little effort I got as far as "Type regedit in Start - Run". I can
"FIND" no keys that appear to be helpful.

Thanks for your help.

The full and complete technical documentation is in my first post.
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer=20
(HKCU is shorthand for HKEY_CURRENT_USER windows saves us typing)

You have to add a dword value called MaxRecentDocs under that above key =
and set it to what ever you want it to be in hexidecimal eg 1=3D1 2=3D2 =
3=3D3 4=3D4 5=3D5 6=3D6 7=3D7 8=3D8 9=3D9 a=3D10 b=3D11 c =3D 12 d=3D13 =
e=3D14 f=3D15 10 =3D16 ... 20=3D32 (calculator in scientific mode can =
convert).
