I am using XP Pro and I used to get the odd pop up when surfing, so I
decided to install Zonealarm Pro, Now not sure if this is just coincidence
but soon after I kept getting a script error box pop up on EVERY new web
page I look at.

I tried uninstalling Zonealarm but the box still pops up all the time. I
have checked all settings in security and advanced IE options and 'disable
scrip debugging' is checked and the box saying 'display a notification about
every script error', is unchecked so how can I be still getting script
errors???? I have also tried to run with security set to Low and I still
get the box.

The only way I can stop this box appearing is to check 'Disable active
scripting' in IE custom security settings, but of course I cannot surf far
with this setting disabled.

For more info please see my post dated 3/6/03 "Please help.....this is
driving me mad!!!"

Can someone please point me in the right direction to get help with this?

Thanks a million for any help offered.

Graham

Hi Mary

I have Ad-Aware installed and I run it weekly to check my system.

I have also read and disabled Messenger, thinking that this might be the
cause of the trouble.

As you can see I seem to have tried everything possible but it still pops
up!

Thanks for the reply

Graham

Not sure if this helps, but in Zonealarm list sites visited and
www.Adblaster2.info keeps returning to the list even thought I have removed
it several times. I have never visited this site so why does Zonealarm
think I have. It worries me because this is the URL listed in every script
error box I get.

Have you tried the registry route? I cannot find any where on how to get rid of
adblaster, however you can download it from everywhere.
This is very good, jv16 Power Tools.

I know you said you disabled the Messenger, but maybe incorrectly??

jv16 Power Tools........Great little program Mary but how the hell does the
Reg Cleaner actually remove the files it finds! I can select/check them but
where is the delete button to remove them?? I am feeling a little stupid
here because I have now spent an hour and cannot figure out how to remove
invalid entries found in Reg Cleaner!!

Also your link about messenger doesn't seem to go anywhere?

Thanks for your help much appreciated, but I am beginning to think I am
loosing this battle :-((

Not sure what JV16 Power Tools you are using but my reg
cleaner has a remove button. Once a list of invalid
entries comes up click the select button at the top and
then click all(if you want to remove all) then down the
bottom you will see the remove button right beside the
other ones like try to fix. If you don't see them then try
to reduce your screen size as they may be below the screen
level. I know you use ad-aware but in my opinion it really
isn't robust enough for todays surfing needs. I had it and
got rid of it months ago in favour of SpyBot Search and
Destroy which is also free and does a more thorough job.
Be careful though if you use spyware programs like KaZaA
then it will remove the ad components and render it
useless, which it is any way. SpyBot also has a good tool
called immunization which will block know adware
installing sites. Good luck.

Sorted!!!

Had a reply to my original post of 03/03 suggesting I download some
software....

Not sure which program did it either Spybot - Search & Destroy or
SpywareBlaster but no more pop ups!

Guess this means I had spyware in my registry then?

Thanks to everyone who contributed, much appreciated!
