I have a new computer with XP on it. I do medical
billing and some of my work I can do at home. However,
some of the programs out there for medical billing,
especially Medicare, is not compatible with XP. How can
I load another OS on my computer and keep the XP?
Thank you,

Pat,
To use XP's dual boot mechanism the recommended and supported procedure is
to install the older operating system first and then XP. Two partitions are
needed on the same drive or on an additional drive. In these circumstances,
the boot loader is set up automatically for you.
In some cases, it is possible to setup a dualboot in the reverse order. MVP
Doug Knox has outlined the procedures for installing Win98, WinME or Win2000
after XP is already installed at his website:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/xp_tips.html There are caveats outlined at the
site that *must* be adhered to for these procedures to be successful.
If you find that you can't utilize the above, you still have third party
boot managers and "vitual pc" software to choose from. Either of these
products are an additional expense but they would allow you to run two
operating systems on the same computer.
