Hi Greg,
There are a few methods:-
The easy way to reinstall Internet Explorer (Only works in
WinXP SP1)
.. Quit Internet Explorer and Outlook Express
.. Open Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
.. Untick "Internet Explorer" and click the "Next"-
button and let Internet Explorer be uninstalled
.. To reinstall again open Control Panel ->
Add/Remove Programs and tick "Internet Explorer" and click
the "Next"-Button
Or
To Reinstall IE in Windows XP by clicking Start, Run and
entering the following command:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall
132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf
Or
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x Repair for Windows XP.
.. From the Start menu, select Run.
.. In the Open field, type sfc /scannow (Note: There
is a space between sfc and /scannow)
.. Select the OK button.
.. Follow the prompts throughout the System File
Checker process.
.. Reboot the computer when System File Checker
completes.
Or
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x Repair for Windows XP
.. From the Start menu, select Search, select All
Files and Folders.
.. Select More Advanced Options and place a checkmark
beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option.
.. Ensure that Search System Folders and Search
Subfolders are also checked.
.. In the All or Part of the File Name box, type
ie.inf
.. In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the
letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder.
.. Click the Search button.
.. In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file
located in Windows\Inf folder.
.. Right click the ie.inf file and click Install on
the context menu.
.. Reboot the computer when the file copy process is
complete.
NB: To reinstall Outlook Express, right click the
following file and click "Install"
Msoe60.inf
Or
If a repair doesn't do the trick, you can try a reinstall:
1. Start the Registry Editor
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \
Active Setup \ Installed Components \ {89820200-ECBD-11cf-
8B85-00AA005B4383}
3. right-click the IsInstalled value, and then click
Modify
4. Change the value data, from 1 to 0
5. Close the registry editor
6. Download and install Internet Explorer 6.
The above will let you reinstall the Internet Explorer 6
browser component. To reinstall Outlook Express 6, change
the IsInstalled value from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Active Setup \
Installed Components \ {44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-
00AA00B6015C}
Note: You need to be logged on as an administrator to be
able to change these registry keys.
