View Full Version : Saving to RW CD

I just upgraded from 98, and had a scheduled event to save
a few files to my Re-writeable CD as a backup. In XP it
doesn't appear that I can do that. Either it stores
temporary files on the CD (not written), or if I write the
files to it, it closes out the CD. EITHER WAY, it doesn't
appear that I can add or change files along the way.
Any hints here ??
Thanks

gregg,
by using your windows explorer, you can add files to your cdrw without too
much effort.
just open windows explorer, insert your cdrw into the drive, click the cdr
drive, drag the file you wanted to add into the right pane of windows
explorer. the computer woud then indicate what files are present in the
disc and what needs still to be written.
when you are satisfied with the results, right click on the cdr drive icon
on the left pane of windows explorer and then click on write these files to
the cd.
the wizard will then guide you through the process.
good luck!
hope this helps.

The problem is that this is a scheduled event....I won't
be there to tend to it. In 98, I just ran a batch file to
copy these files...apparently you can't do that in XP ???

You can do it if you format the cdrw disk with packet writing software so
that cdrw disk is viewed by Windows as just another drive. Most cd burning
software suites come with some version, Ahead (Nero) has InCD.

C Burning with XP is very basic, it does not support multiple-sessions
(it closes the disc after a burn) and it does not support Packet
writing to CDRW discs either.
I suggest you get a full CD Burning software like Nero or Eacy CD
Creator.
