View Full Version : Password expiry countdown

Windows XP pro machine has recently started telling me there are x
days left till I need to change my password and asking if i want to do
so now.

However, the puzzler is that neither of the users of the machine have
passwords for logging on. The request comes straight after I have
selected my user name.My user name is a nickname, not my actual name.
if I try to do anything to change the password it asks me to do so as
my real name, asks for my old password, rejects the only one I ever
use and then lets me continue to normal access.

Should I be concerned about this? I have 9 days left now.......I
suspect its not an issue as my normal user name does have all
privileges and no password, but I'd appreciate some advice.

Go to Start/Run, type: control userpasswords2 and press OK.
Click the Advanced tab.
In Advanced User Management, click the Advanced button.
Select the Userw folder.
Double click your account in the list.
Place a check mark in the "Password never expires" option.
OK your way out.
