Can anyone help me to find why I regularily get
an "Error: IPNATHLP 31008" in my System Events?
I have my Windows XP locally connected to a Linux PC.
Than'x for help.

Yes, exactly.
My Windows computer has a dial-up connection which I share with the Linux
PC.
The Windows PC and the Linux PC are connected via Ethernet cable.
Connection Sharing works fine (in principle), but I do not want to ignore
the IPNATHLP 31008 error.
Meanwhile there is also another System Error: IPNATHLP 32003
"The Network Address Translator (NAT) was unable to request an operation of
the kernel-mode translation module. This may indicate misconfiguration,
insufficient resources, or an internal error. The data is the error code."
The data: 0000: 1f 00 00 00
Any help very appreciated.
Thanx

What is happening is that when ICS starts up, it tries to find out some
things from the shared interface - like the DNS servers that are configured,
and some other stuff. With a dialed up connection (or a PPPoE connection
that must be connected before it will work), that information isn't
available when the service starts because it hasn't been set yet, so the
error is logged. As soon as the connection is connected though, that
information is set and ICS able to get what it needs.
While these error messages can sometimes be an indication that something is
wrong or not set up correctly, that is not always the case. In your case,
these are transient failures due to the fact that the shared connection
isn't connected. Since everything is working fine, you have nothing to
worry about.
Good for you checking up on your event logs though! Thats one of the best
ways to keep an eye on your system and make sure everything is working as it
should.
