I need someone with their advice to help me restore my Win
XP Home edition:
After the initial XP logo my screen goes to where you can
select
1.- Safe Mode
2.- Safe mode with Networking ( I do nor have NW)
3.- Safe Mode with Command Prompt
4.- Last Known Good Configuration.
None of the above works for after a few seconds it changes
to a BLUE screen with the following message:
UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME
Technical Information:
*** Stop: 0XOOOOOOOED (OXOOOOOOED (OX81799D20,
OXOOOOOOO6, OXOOOOOOOO, OXOOOOOOOO)
When the BLUE screen is on I cannot do anything at all, no
way to reach Start or the Task Mgr. since is locked in
that nasty BLUE screen, nor I can read or restart using
the recovery disk. I did not Install any component, my
grand son has been downloading some stuff like "matrix
reloaded" or something and after closing for that session
in the next boot up the Blue Screen came up and has been
like that ever since. My PC will not accept any of the
CD's that came with it.
All I need is to be able to reach the task Mgr. and remove
some stuff that my grand son downloaded.
Please if there's a way to boot up in safe mode
like "Pressing and holding alt after switching on (works
for Win ME or Win '98) or whatever is to do to reach or
start in safe mode please tell me how.
Thanks for all this confusion but I've been trying to find
someone who helps me and my frustration mounts as days go
by without finding that generous person.
Yours truly,
Ruben Z.

Hi Ruben,

That means that either your boot files are messed up, or you are using a =
40 wire cable where you should have an 80 wire one.

If the system was previously running for a period of time without =
incidence, then the problem is probably with the boot files. You need to =
load the Recovery Console by booting the WinXP CD (see below) and run =
bootcfg /rebuild from the command prompt to repair them.

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP [Q307654]
