I have just bought a new computer with Windows XP. My last
one had Win98 so I've finding things very different. I
have set up four users: the two adults as administrators
and the children as users. I am installing programs and
have two problems:
1. For the children to install their games I have to make
them temporary administrators. Is this the only way they
can install stuff?
2. I order for all of us to use the word
processor/NikonView/Music writer etc, I have to install
them in all users|shared documents|program files (I set up
program files myself) which bugs me as I would like to
keep all program files together. Is there any way of a
user making their programs available to the other users?

Yes. Users are now allowed to install anything.

You may have to install certain applications that are not fully
compatible with Windows XP once from each user account. You should
still be able to use C:\PROGRAM FILES for the installation.
