AOL PFC Files

I recently got broadband and cancelled AOL. I saved my
favorite places and my PFC files to a desktop file. But
now I can't open them. It is a file type that windows
cannot open. Is there anyway to open these files short of
signing back up to AOL?

If it is a custom AOL format than no, you would need some tool (either 3d
party or from AOL) to access those files.

I just saved my AOL Favorites to a PFC file using AOL 8.0 and opened
the resulting file in Wordpad. The URLs are there, in plain text,
along with a lot of binary garbage. You can copy and paste a URL into
the IE address bar to get to the site.

Here's a web page that shows how to read the PFC and convert it into a
bookmark.htm file:

Do a Google search for "AOL PFC favorites" to find those and others.
