I need HELP, PLEASE!

I loaded a WinXP release last week and after it was finished installing I had to reboot and ever since then I have to MANUALLY click my User Name to
complete the reboot process.

In other words it changed the way I had it where when I booted XP came up to my desktop automatically without me having to intervene.

I thought I knew how to fix it back to the way I had it but I have been unsuccessful.

I went into the Control Panel under User Accounts and clicked Change the way users log on or off.

I have tried both the combinations of checking the 2 boxes in there, the top box says Use the Welcome screen. That would make since if it wasn't checked
then I wouldn't get the screen to log on, the Welcome Screen. When its unchecked you cant check the other box.

Also now when I press Ctrl-Alt-Del I don't get the Task Manager anymore. I am presented with Windows Security window with 6 buttons I can press and one is
the Task Manager.

I used to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and the Task Manager came right up, it doesn't anymore.

Even the Shutdown Window has changed. It is a window that has the WinXP logo and a drop down box to make your selection. When I select Restart or even shut the PC down and turn it back on, it will NEVER boot to my desktop.

It boots to a Log On screen, NOT the Welcome screen. This logon screen has my username already in the Username field and the Password field is blank. I do NOT have a PW, so I click OK and then it finishes the boot up.

What the hell changed and how do I get it back to where it was, being able to boot up automatically and being able to get the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del once?

Thanks

kimvan
