Brian,
I got it to work in the end by learning the following
(don't know which is applicable to you):
NB. It's not science, just got it working by trial and
error; there may be better / other solutions:

1) The home computer needs to be configured for a
Workgroup with the same name as your office Domain. You
may have to change the Workgroup name for your family
computers. If you get it working without doing this, let
me know because it irritated me to force the office into
my home...
2) If you look under 'Entire Network', you should see the
Domain/Workgroup and the family computer within. Do you?
From there you should find the shared resources.

I found it more difficult to solve the reverse problem
(seeing the Domain computer from the Workgroup one) which
involved:

1) The useraccount that you use on the family computer
needs to be defined and have the right priviliges on the
Domain computer.
2) The Netlogon service needs to be started on the Domain
computer.
