Missing list of program

This problem was occurred after an automatic update of WinXP yesterday.

Many names of programs were disappeared under the list of Start/All
Programs.
When checked under Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, those programs are
sitting there.

I am wondering how I can bring the name of programs into the list under
Start/All Programs.
