strange things seem to be happening to my machine- I
downloaded some windows updates recently, and (is this a
coincidence)noticed later that a new account had been
added to my machine: ASP.Net Machine A... I freaked and
deleted it before i knew what it was...was this part of a
microsoft download, or what?(it was a limited acc't)
Also- I tried to play with some very elementary java, and
I needed to use the DOS emulator in xp. I tried Run>
command prompt, but i get a window which says COMMAND
search directory bad, and I can't get the DOS emulator
to locate stuff I know is on the machine...cam abybody
help?

Bob,
In regards to the first item you mentioned. The account was created when
the .Net Framework was installed from Windows
Update. The account is created for viewing/debugging ASP.Net pages. If
you are not
developing ASP.Net pages, the account is used whenever you navigate to an
ASP.Net page so that you are able to view and access the page. This is why
the .Net framework installs the user account. On a Pro machine running IIS,
it will also act so that you can debug your application.
For item number 2, to launch a command prompt, you need to do Start - Run -
CMD (command was for Win9x).
Hope this helps.
Thx,
Nico
