View Full Version : Local Area Connection Status window will not come up

When I double-click on my Local Area Connection icon from the Network
Connections in the Control Panel, nothing happens. I use to get the popup
window that would allow me to view my status and access the advanced tab to
repair an IP address. I can right-click on my Local Area Connection and
choose Repair or Properties and that works fine. But when I click on the
Status option, nothing happens. Something must have been corrupted
somewhere. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

This can happen if you set up "Launch folder windows in a seperate process",
and you are launching the Network Connections folder from a shortcut
(instead of from the start menu).

2 workarounds:

1) Open My Computer (or any folder on the system actually).
Go to Tools \ Folder Options \ View
Under your Advanced Settings, see if you have: "Launch folder windows in a
seperate process" selected.

If so, turn it off. Log off & log back on.

- or -

2) Launch the Network Connections folder from the start menu instead of from
a shortcut. To make it always show up, right-click on the taskbar \
Properties \ Start Menu \ Customize \ Advanced \ Network Connections -
"Display as Connect to menu".

Thank you very much for responding. I turned off the "Launch folder windows
in a separate process" and it now works. WooHoo! Thanks again.
