Apparently the software bundle included by the manufacturer on your
friend's system included the Office program, PowerPoint. This is (and
always has been) an extra program separate from Windows.

The included extras will vary from one new system to the next. Sometimes
they are options (pay this much for this software bundle and that much
for a different software bundle).

That depends. Did you buy it? PowerPoint doesn't come with Windows XP, but
it does come with Office XP.

PP never was part of Windows. It was always an extra.
