Windows Update and Activation hell

So my computer is connected to the internet through DSL,
BUT everytime I go to activate xp or update, nothing
happens. PLEASE help me!

Do you have a firewall running on your DSL connection?

Maybe that is blocking the traffic to the activation servers.

If you are really stuck with the activation of XP, the only thing to try
might be to activate via the telephone.
