Hi guys,
this morning I had powered up my machine and network
wasn't running. From my machin I couldn't ping other PCs
in the network but the opposite worked. The network where
I work has a Win2k server as a primary Domain Controller
and four WinXP workstations.
I have disabled all the secondary network connection like
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and enabled NetBIOS because we are
using static IP addresses. And now I can ping the PDC.
So I have tried to re-join the domain and it worked. But
when logging on it says "Building domain list" and it
does nothing. I can press CTRL+ALT+CANC and logon with
the local account but I can't access to the network
because the "Network access" service is not loaded.
I have tried also to reinstall the network adapter driver
(an integrated nForce NIC that worked for a year) without
success.
However there is a really strange thing: I can get the
adapter working but after reboot WinXP gets back to
previous network settings (like disabled connections are
now enabled) and of course the network doesn't go again.
I know that these problems go away with a reinstall but I
have just did this two months ago and I wouldn't like to
spend again all that time...
Thank you for your support,
