Laptop with XP Pro was orginally set up to run on home
peer-to-peer network connected through LinkSys EtherFast
router. Internet access and file sharing and sharing
printer attached to another computer worked fine.

New job. New user added for new office environment.
Laptop configured to allow office user to connect to
office LAN and assigned to an office domain.

Now home Internet connection still works, but all
applications frequently stop responding when logged on as
home user. Always happens on File|Print. Occasionally
on File|Open and Edit|Copy. Applications usually recover
after several MINUTES.

When applications are non-responsive and task manager is
launched, it shows TWO sessions of non-responsive
application. When application recovers, one session
disappears.

All applications function normally when logged on as
office user.

I'm stumped. HEELLLPPPP!

Ed,

when the computer is set up for a domain, it will not work well
in a workgroup environment.

You could use a third party product like NetSwitcher to solve
this problem.
