On logon screen, I see that "42 unread mail messages".
When checked there were not a single unread email messages in OE. So I
could not figure out how come 42 unread email messages pop up. It happens
everyday. Please advise me how to correct this problem. Satoshi

Download and install TweakUI:
Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP (TweakUI)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
After installing, go to Start > Programs > PowerToys for Windows XP >
TweakUI. Expand "Logon" and uncheck "Show unread mail on Welcome =
screen".
Note: Unread message alerts may indicate you have unread messages not =
only
in Outlook Express, but Hotmail and/or MSN email accounts as =
well.
--=20

Because of logon issue, I downloaded powetoys and installed to two XP
computers (home and office).
What I saw is this:
a) Office computer: TweakU1 is listed under Start/All programs. But Tweak
U1 icon was not visible under Control Panel.
b) Home computer: Tweak U1 is not listed under Start/All Programs but its
icon is seen under Control Panel.
Both computers have almost identical systems. I wonder how this happened.

The old version of TweakUI (the one for previous versions of Windows)
installed as a control panel applet.
The new one for XP adds a shortcut in the start menu. Some folks prefer
the control panel location so MVP Kelly Theriot has written and posted a
tweak at her site that allows you to add TweakUI for XP into Control
Panel.
It is a REG file. Double click to add it to your registry. Check the
file in Notepad before using to confirm that the paths used in the edit
match up with those on your setup.
