This problem happened after automatic XP updating.
The list of program under Start/All Programs are different from those under
Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs.
After XP updating, lots of programs listed under Star/All Programs were
disappeared. I wonder how I can synchronize the listing between All
Programs and Add or Remove Programs. craig

"Add or remove Programs" only contains link to uninstallers but not to
the software itself. Applications that do not come with an
(un)installer are not listed here.
Check the folder WINDOWS\START MENU or
WINDOWS\PROFILES\{user_name}\START MENU for if you can find the
missing shortcuts for your applications here. If so, move them to
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU.

Hi Thorsten,
I looked up both WINDOWS\START MENU and WINDOWS\PROFILES\{user_name}\.
On my computer, I do not see a folder of "Windows/Start Menu". I checked
that this is not a hidden folder either.
Then, I chekced WINDOWS\PROFILES\{user_name}\..
What I see was "WINDOWS\PROFILES\{user_name}\Application
Data\Conceptworld\Pily\ {empty}".
Again I do not see Start menu under these two folder. Am I missing
something here?

Try going to this location; C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start =
Menu\Programs HTH.
