Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction please....
Im going to build a new xp machine from scratch with all new hardware.
No problem so far
When this is up and running, I intend to install my old windows 98se
drive as a second drive, and convert to xp aswell.
Will this be a problem? Im not sure the order in which to do things
regarding the second drive without losing any data on it. I would
rather to a clean xp install than an upgrade.
Any pointers would be much appreciated

Mark;
Your post seems a little confusing.
If you are installing the Windows 98 drive as a second drive, is it
going to be a slave to the other drive with Windows XP installed?
If that is the case, there is nothing to convert unless you are going
to convert the drive to NTFS.
You can use the Windows 98 drive as a data drive whether it is FAT 32
or NTFS.
You can also delete the Windows files if it is only for data storage.
Be sure the jumpers are configured properly on both hard drives.

Yes, its going to be a second drive slave - my eventual intention is
to install xp on this drive too and have a dual boot set up i.e 2 xp´s
on 2 different drives. My primary concern was not to lose any data
from my old drive in the process!
Thanks Jupiter for your input....it seems easier than i first thought

Mark;
Copy the files on the second hard drive to the first hard drive.
Then you can load Windows XP on the second drive without losing the
data.
