View Full Version : Attachments won't open

Since updating Windows, I can't open attachments on
either my PC (Windows 2000) or laptop (XP). Both tell me
that OE has removed the message.
I'm a novice, and I'm stumped.

Click on the "tools" drop-down on your OE window, then on "options". Click
on the security tab and then uncheck the "do not allow attachments to be
saved or opened..." box.

Greetings --

Outlook Express (OE)'s new default security settings are simply
trying to protect you. OE has no way of telling whether an attachment
actually contains a virus or not, so it temporarily blocks any of
those file types that could potentially contain a virus. In Outlook
Express, Tools > Options > Security, uncheck the "Do not allow
attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"
option, assuming you trust the source, of course. The wiser course of
action, however, would be to modify your list of unsafe files, as
outlined in the KB articles below:

u have to go to tools in OE then go to options and open up u will find a box
that said security, u will then see a box that is ticked that says :do not
allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus.
just un tick the box then click apply then ok problem fix.

Robert.

"U" have to read the other replies first. What's the point
of butting in now when it's all over ?

Move along, nothing to see here.
