XP installation components for wireless Networking ?

Hi there, I've been trying to up a 'ad hoc' wireless
network between my home desktop pc (the 'Host') and my
laptop (the 'client) for a mere 5 days !! HELP ;--((

My friends 'XP home' (operating software) seems to have
more options to be able to select to set up the
network .....I can't find the same tabs/choices, some of
them but not all of them on my XP 'Home'.

Do I need to install extra companents from the
XP 'Home'disc ?

Any help greatly appreciated.
