Not sure why it didn't work but since you have 98 back on
it, just do the upgrade to xp. If its been more than 120
days since you installed xp the first time you won't have
any trouble. But if its been less than that, you may have
to activate over the phone. All you have to do is call
the number it gives you and tell them you upgraded the
motherboard and cpu. Won't be any trouble at all.
