View Full Version : Legitimate Microsoft Software at Deeply Discounted Prices?

I know this is not a legitimate email I keep getting, but today I got this
email claiming to offer Windows XP professional for $44.95, and the other
day I saw one saying Office XP Professional was available at a similar
price. And I also used to get Norton System Works offers for $19.95 or so.

Obviously these people cannot have a legitimate full install of these
products for this price. So, I am wondering is there a place that I can
forward these emails to Microsoft so that Microsoft can pursue these
pirates?

If I were these spammers, I would afraid of prosecution for selling
unlicensed copies. So, if they are not afraid, how are they escaping
prosecution when sending these blatant emails?

Just curious,

Bruce

bruce,

i have once read an article about that.

they may indeed sell legitimate copies of ms products. but the catch is,
they may be oem versions. an oem version is a version of a product that may
be sold along with a hardware, and that comes without microsoft support. so
if trouble comes along, microsoft can't help you.

as for xp, the hitch with an oem version is that, you can not transfer the
os from one machine to another, even if you have totally reformatted the
hard disk of your other computer.
