View Full Version : XP Boot loader...I dont need it

hi
i get the choose operating system prompt on this new instalation of XP
home....i have two choices windows98 or windows xp
if i choose windows 98 i get a C:\ dos prompt...there is no version of
98 in fact xp is on C: drive and 98 wont go on any another partition
than C:........i tried booting from a 98 startup and did fdisk /mbr
but it didnt help.....how do i replace the MBR WIth XP???

Hi Ray,

Folder Options/view, make sure you can view hidden and system files. Then
locate boot.ini on the root of the boot partition and double-click it.
Remove the reference to Win98 here (you may also want to reduce the timeout=
line to 0). Click file/save and close when finished.
