Right now I am using win 98se but will be upgrading to XP
this week. Some folks say that I shoulds not have so much
running in the background, but I don't see why it is a
problem. Typically what I have running is: pop-up killer,
zone alarm, avg boot anti-virus, norton anti-virus,
desktop architect, mouse software for an IBM, ink monitor,
turbonote, and a few other things. I am running a P3 800
with 512mb of ram and a GF3 128mb ddr graphics card. I
understand that when going up to XP that I will notice a
lot of difference from what I see and feel now. Could I
please get some feedback on this? TIA.

mark,
if you are moving from se to xp, yes, there would be a few changes with the
look and feel. but you can also change the look and feel back to se, though
you are also running xp.
however, there are some software that may not be compatible with xp, if you
would like to upgrade the file system of your hard disk to ntfs.
this link:

would compare 98 with xp...and i hope it would give you a few infos.
best luck on your upgrade...and welcome to the xp world.

I just bought this XP machine a month ago. While it only has 64 more megs
of RAM than my old machine there is much more running and XP seems to handle
it just fine. At multitaksing, it is much better than Win98 ever was.
