Here's a challenge for everyone. I have a Dell D800 with
the Intel 2100 3A wireless card built in. The computer
came with Win 2000. My office upgrading to XP and my
computer was updated last week. Everything went fine
except for the wireless card. Now I can't install the
drivers for the wireless card. I get an error message -

"An error occurred during the installation of the device.
The name is already in use as either a service name or a
service display name"

I've tried everything I can think of to fix this,
uninstalled, reinstalled (both hardware and software),
edited the registry, on and on. I need some expert help.
Anyone have any suggestions?

When exactly do you get this error. What is the "name" that is referred
to in the error?

At this point your installation is probably a mess! If you have a restore
point from before all this mess, restore it.

Also be wary of hotifix 826942 which can cause problems if your wireless
h/w does not support WPA.

BTW, do you have the very latest card drivers from Intel?
