A few days ago I replaced my Win98SE with a clean install
of WinXP. This went well apart from three small niggles:
1. For the first four days after installation I was able
to go to Standby (Start | Turn Off Computer | StandBy) but
then it stopped doing so and now gives a message:
"The device driver for the Terminal Server Mouse Driver is
preventing the machine from entering standby. Please
close all applications and try again. If the problem
persists, you may need to update this driver."
I always close all applications first and I don't know
where to find a Terminal Server Mouse or its driver - this
machine has no Server function - it is a stand-alone
machine. How can I get into Stanby?
2. If I open an Excel file by double-clicking from
Windows Explorer it opens alright, but always gives a
message ".You cannot open two documents with the same
name.". I am not trying to open two documents. How do I
stop this?
3. In all previous versions of Windows (even 3.1) there
was an attributes column (in details mode of the File
Pane) showing, where appropriate, RASH against each file.
This was very useful and seems to have disappeared in
WinXP. How do I get it back?
I've searched for all of these in Help without any
success, can anyone please advise.
