Excesive network traffic

Dear Experts

I ahve WinXP PC connected to Broadband, but the, service
providers says that my PC pings the server continously,
thus generating excesive traffic. Also I observed the
Network Connection Status Icon in my systray shows
activity with user any user activity. I checked for
virus... all seems OK. Pl guide

Do you have an edge router (e.g. linksys?)

Go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and download Stinger to check for
viruses.

I am constantly pinged by people who installed the false supposed update
from MS which is only a virus.
