I=B4m running Windows XP as a server at work (only for 3=20
users). I heard about the inbuilt VPN server and thought=20
it would be a great thing to use while out traveling, I=20
could still access my corporate files.
So I used the wizard to setup and allow incoming VPN=20
connections. I also opend up port 500 & 1723 and=20
forwarded those to the servers local IP from the Netgear=20
router. It works perfect to connect from outside the=20
router, goes fast and smooth.
On the server I have some folders shared where I have=20
some of the files that would be good to access during my=20
business trips. This is where the problems start. If I=20
have understood things the right way I should be able to=20
browse these folders on the server from my client=20
computer (also running XP) while having a VPN connection=20
established? But once I open Windows Explorer or My=20
Network Places on the client computer it hangs (have=20
tried this on several computers running XP). I have to=20
shut down the VPN connection to get Windows back to=20
normal. I simply can=B4t browse or access the information=20
in the shared VPN server folders. I am logged in as Admin=20
so that shouldnt be the problem.
Could it be that this service needs more ports other than=20
1723 and 500?
All help appreciated!
