I finally took the plung and upgraded to XP and have run
into a problem I can't solve.
After creating a folder or file to the desktop and then
try to delete it after I am finished using it, I sometimes
(not always) get the message something to the effect 'Can
not delete, someone else may be using this file or folder'.
I am the only one using this computer and am signed on as
the Administrator.
I do have my old computer shared with this one, but it is
off and not in use.
Has anyone run into this problem? I can't find the answer
in any of the help files, MS Knowledge Base or the 1028
page book from QUE.
Thanks for your help!
Heinz

I've had the problem and I've seen a couple of posts here on the same
subject in the last couple of weeks. I have yet to read a diffinitive
solution.

The best thing I can tell you is that sometimes you can wait for a couple of
hours and try again, sometimes you can reboot and try again, and sometimes
you have to boot into safe mode and delete (or move or rename) the file.

To boot into safe mode, hold down the F8 key when your system starts up --
before the windows xp screen -- usually at the system manufacturers intro
screen.

You should then be able to delete the files.
